About us
You are on the web site of the Laboratory of Functional Genetics. You will find here our present and future research projects as well as information on researchers working in the lab, our publications, lab news, jobs and how to contact us.
I hope that it will help you to know more about our team, our work, and eventually to decide to come in Liège and work with us.
Inositides metabolism and signalling in vivo: insulin signalling, lymphocytes development and function, Alzheimer disease, ciliopathies,...and much more!!
The basic approach of Schurmans group is to genetically modify/mutate genes in mice and to analyze the effects of these mutations on the development and function of the whole organism. From these studies, we are establishing basic principles of physiology and basic mechanisms of disease pathogenesis in animal and man, as well as defining new targets for innovative therapies and diagnosis. In particular, the laboratory focuses on genes implicated in the control of inositol phosphates and phosphoinositides metabolism and signaling.
